Blood pressure
Arteries are vessels that transmit blood from the heart to all parts of the body. The force of the blood thrusting against the walls of the arteries is known as blood pressure. The heart pumps out blood into the arteries every time the heart beats and is around 60-70 times per minute at rest. When the heart beats pumping the blood, an individual’s blood pressure is said acquire the maximum level. This is referred to as systolic pressure. The blood pressure diminishes when the heart is at rest, between beats. This is referred to as diastolic pressure.
Blood pressure is at all times made available in systolic and diastolic pressures which are equally vital. Generally they appear on top of or previous to the other, for example 120/80 mmHg. The number which is at the top is the systolic and the number at the bottom is the diastolic. When the two measurements are provided, the systolic pressure is the initial number or the number which appears at the top, and the diastolic pressure is the subsequent or the number that is visible at the bottom for instance 120/80. If an individual’s blood pressure is 120/80, it is referred to as "120 over 80."
Throughout the day there is an alteration in an individual’s blood pressure. It is at a minimum during sleep and increases when a person gets up from bed. Blood pressure can also increase when an individual is agitated, anxious, or working.
Blood pressure increases heart activity- It is to be noted that for the major period of time during the hours when an individual is awake the blood pressure remains unaltered while one is sitting or standing motionless.
- During such times the level must not exceed 120/80.
- When the level touches 140/90 or higher, one is said to be suffering from high blood pressure.
- When the blood pressure increases, it increases the activity of the heart harming the arteries in the process and the likelihood of an individual afflicted by a stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems is enhanced.
A single particular cause cannot be attributed for a large number of people with high blood pressure. This is referred to as essential or primary high blood pressure.
In certain individuals, high blood pressure is caused by another medical complication or medication. This is known as the secondary high blood pressure once the cause is ascertained.
High blood pressure also known as hypertension is a serious health hazard in the world at present.
Hypertension is also referred to as the silent killer since it does not reveal any symptoms yet it is capable of triggering substantial damage within the body. It is a major reason for stroke, heart disease, heart failure, kidney disease, and blindness. It greatly enhances a person's likelihood of being afflicted by heart disease, and fairly heightens the probability of stroke. Since hypertension is not associated with any symptom it can only be identified by means of determining a person’s blood pressure.
